Just a link here to what I did on Friday.... along with several other Portland lawyers, we filed a lawsuit against the City of Portland and various officials for the police attacking peaceful protesters on August 22, when George W. Bush came to town to raise money for Senator Gordon Smith.

(I have a good look on my face in the picture second from the top, although I don't have the sartorial style of Steven, the lawyer on the far right of the pic. Bow tie, shaggy sideburns, AND cool-geek glasses? I can't compare to *that* :)

The fourth photo on that page is a family that was hit with pepper spray, including the children.

Bear in mind that the crowd was loud, but not violent. No objects were thrown at the police, and the crowd never attempted to cross the barricades set up outside the hotel where Bush was speaking. The police, without warning, doused the crowd (including the children) with pepper spray, shot rubber bullets into the crowd, and targeted a camerawoman from Portland Channel 12 news.
