Quick hits on Cap and Lari's Wedding...

First off, I'd like to thank
captain18 and
spoothbrush and their parents for the festivities this weekend, particularly the food and music at the reception. (Cap told me of the careful playlist selection, including several "do not play" selections, such as these, this, and *especially* this!)
Amy and I traveled about an hour ahead of Brendan and spot; we were stymied by delays, but not as much as we could have been. (Amy and I flew United through Washington Dulles to Newark; if we would have flown through O'Hare, we may have been stranded by weather like Cap's brother.)
When we arrived in Newark, Hertz rented me a mid-sized car.....which turned out to be a shiny new canary yellow Mustang. (We got out-pimped about 20 minutes out of the airport by a super-stretch limo that passed us on the NJ Turnpike, though.)
We arrived at the hotel late, and spent a bit of time drinking beer with the rest of the groom's party, but it was an early night for me, since we had been traveling all day.
As usual, there were emergencies on the day of the wedding, but we found a thrift store where I could replace a forgotten belt, and Amy found a shoe repair shop where she could get a shine.
After the ceremony, we went back to the hotel for a little break before the reception. (Note to
neuracnu : Belvedere vodka is dmanfine!)
There was a nice dinner at the reception, and eventually they played "Love Shack," which brought Amy and I out onto the dance floor. I wasn't noticeably whiter than most of the people there, so it was all right. Again, very good song selection; both the older people and younger people there found plenty to listen and dance to, and you know it's a geek wedding when a lot of the guests can do a pretty mean Time Warp. :P
After many attempts at saying goodbye and taking pictures of the #watertower/#acmelabs crowd, we made it home in one piece.
Next morning, Amy, Brendan, spot and I had breakfast with
jdm314 and took Brendan and spot to the airport (whence they ran into a big delay and they missed their connection in Detroit and had to stay the night).
Amy and I hung out in Princeton that afternoon and did our part to bail the U.S. out of its economic quagmire (there is no quagmire!), particularly Amy at the record store . She thinks I intentionally parked near the record store to enable her. Well, fine, blame ME for your vinyl fetish......
After we arrived at Amy's parents' house, her mom treated us to Chinese food and we hung around with them and Amy's sister that night. Unfortunately, Amy's dad had to go into the hospital with a fever this morning, but her brother said it wasn't particularly serious, and we're heading off to the beach this afternoon.
Oh, and Amy's parents' cat Fizzy is being a little tease; she was rolling around on the upstairs hall floor like she wanted to be petted, but slinked away when you approached her. :P
