...my dad probably wasn't infected with rabies when he was bitten by the cat.

The Health Department identified the rabid cat as another cat in the colony, and the cat that bit my dad is still around and does not appear to be acting strangely. My dad probably frightened the cat and the cat bit in response.

He's still going through with the shots, just to be safe.

In other cat news, we'll try to trap Steve, the black cat that hangs around our house. He's lost weight, as it's clear his humans abandoned him. The Humane Society will not euthanize healthy cats, so we can be sure he'll actually be given a chance to find a home.

One of the best ways to spend a summer weekend.

Saturday, we had a block party on Liberty Street - 2 blocks were barricaded off, and the neighborhood came together - the highlight was the kids' band. One 10-year-old knew the guitar riffs to a number of songs, including "I Love Rock & Roll", "Iron Man" and a bunch of the AC/DC songbook. They even had a cowbell-like instrument (I think an agogo), which I called for more of.

Sunday, I went to the Beavers game with Brendan, spot, and Kieran - the Beavers ended up blowing the lead and losing in extra innings, but it was a perfect day for baseball. And drinking. In the sun.
