...my dad probably wasn't infected with rabies when he was bitten by the cat.

The Health Department identified the rabid cat as another cat in the colony, and the cat that bit my dad is still around and does not appear to be acting strangely. My dad probably frightened the cat and the cat bit in response.

He's still going through with the shots, just to be safe.

In other cat news, we'll try to trap Steve, the black cat that hangs around our house. He's lost weight, as it's clear his humans abandoned him. The Humane Society will not euthanize healthy cats, so we can be sure he'll actually be given a chance to find a home.

Thank you for taking Steve. CAT can't take him, can they?

OHS would probably be easier to get Steve into.

We're getting him used to carriers, and hope to get him in a carrier/trap in a few days and get him in to OHS.

I'm glad to hear about your dad; given that the cat did have the disease, he definitely did dodge a bullet.

Well that's good news! Poor man, to be bitten when he was trying to help. :(

Oh, and poor Steve!! He deserves a happy home. :(
