My back is mostly better after a few days of some rest and ibuprofen.

I also got rid of a potential client who I couldn't stand. This guy was the whiniest guy I've ever met. He extended a normal 45-minute meeting into 1 1/2 hours with questions that were more his whining about what could happen to him than legitimate concerns.

He followed it up with two phone calls which continued his whining and spitting out worst-case scenarios. I tried to explain to him the laws and how they would apply to his case, but he just kept on whining. So I told him I couldn't represent him because I felt I could not represent him adequately because of his personality. This set off another couple minutes of whining; then I told him that I didn't want to talk to him any more, and that it was purely a business decision, and hung up.

Ye gods, what a kvetcher.

It's so hot you can just hang up when you don't want to work with him! I dream of that power!

I work for an attorney as a paralegal and sometimes I wonder why he doesn't take a particular case. Sometimes I think it's because it's not worth enough or would be too hard to prove damages, but other times I think it's because the client is too time intensive or talks too much.

He usually has me write up a nice letter to the client, something to the effect of "my caseload is too great right now, therefore I don't have time to properly represent you."
