Hmmm....a weekend wrapup at the end of the day - more new clients coming in - it turns out that the change in the bankruptcy laws is making people more decisive about filing their bankruptcies NOW. (The deadline before the new laws take effect is October 14.)
Saturday was an errand day - went to pick up Clay Buster at the nursery, pick up Amy's hedge clippers from the lawnmower repair shop (and pet Louise, the large, placid gray and white shopcat...), get cat litter, and send out packages.
We had dinner at La Buca, a nice little Italian place on NE 28th that had a good quiet romantic vibe - it's much quieter than other places, especially Pastini on Broadway (which is always loud and echoe-y. Restaurant owners should design their places so conversation gets absorbed, especially at places where people want a quiet night out...)
We then saw the Found Footage Festival, which proves that the 1950s and 1960s don't have a monopoly on bad short films. (They have a sample on the page if you have QuickTime.) From the ultra-cheesy McDonald's training film "McC", to Mr. T rapping, to Traci Lords doing a workout video reminiscient of her earlier work, to the suave home-shopping hosts John and Johnny, to the foul-mouthed RV pitchman, these films rival Mr. B Natural in their cheesiness.
(And anybody who complains about black people's behavior in New Orleans after the hurricane should watch "Memorial Day 2000" - in this video, honky ofays trash a campground - they drink, puke, fight, burn stuff, fight, drain an RV's sewage onto the ground, and drink and fight some more. "Kirk's 40th Birthday" also shows white people at their best, too.)
At last - Sunday means FOOTBALL. Brendan and I watched the Vikings-Bucs game and the Steelers-Titans. The Vikings played miserably, and the Steelers well. Brendan was trying to teach Kieran how to say "Touchdown Vikings" and raise his hands - he's betting spot that Kieran will do it on his own by the end of football season.

Date: 2005-09-13 01:43 pm (UTC)You know, when I want to go out to eat, Italian is just the least-appetizing 'genre' of foods that I want to eat for some reason. I dunno why. Glad you found a good restaurant, though!
