Get Fuzzy and Pittsburgh...

Oops....looks like Darby Conley hit a nerve amongst Pittsburghers with his October 29 Get Fuzzy ....... here's the article about the backlash. Turns out that one of Darby's friends lives in Pittsburgh, and the strip was an inside joke meant to jag him an' at.

I'm as sensitive to people from outside Pittsburgh making fun of the city as anyone, but making death threats is not cool. If you threaten someone, yer a jagoff.

The Pollution's Gone in Pittsburgh...

Yeah, but the pollution and industrial stench (as well as most of the steel jobs) are gone. As far as I know Buffalo still gets tons of snow (and in Portland and Seattle, it starts raining Oct. 15 and doesn't stop until early May).

Speaking as someone from... well, where I'm from...

That's barely insulting! :P

I can get away with Jersey jokes to Amy or in her presence, so....

Actually, I liked the part of Jersey I saw when I was in for your wedding....it was country Jersey, the part that made people call it "The Garden State". Nice wooded areas and farms.

I'm sure there are some armpits in Jersey (cough, Camden), as there are everywhere else.

Oh, yeah. I mean, Pittsburgh people, suck it up. We over east of you put up with way worse.

I grew up in a nice part of the state, though, yes. There are kind of two armpits, around Camden and Newark/Elizabeth, I guess. And a giant wet spot kind of in the middle of the southern part. I'm not going to try to characterize that. :P

I only visited Pittsburgh once, back in 1991 or so when I went to visit Carnegie Mellon to scope it out, and honestly, I thought the city smelled too.

Sorry...
