...when you win. I went to Vegas last weekend for my bankruptcy convention; it was informative, but I don't think you're reading my LJ to hear about the convention.

You want to hear about how I did at the tables.

Thursday night, I met my dad and we had a nice dinner at Nero's, the fancy place at Caesar's Palace (where I was staying). My dad complimented me on the wine I selected (a peppery pinot noir to go with our lamb chops).

After that, we hit the craps tables.
Craps Rules Craps Betting We hit a streak of luck matched only by Brendan's brother one time when he was at Caesar's. All the shooters were making their points after several rolls, winning my dad's and my place bets in the process. (Place bets are bets on 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 after the point is established. You win if the number you bet on comes up before a 7 is rolled.)

The pile of chips kept on growing and growing....and I ended up with...let's just say, a significant amount of money, about five times my original stake.

Friday night, I played a little blackjack at Caesar's, then went over to the Luxor. A friend of mine from high school put me on the list at Ra (the nightclub there), and comped me drinks. (She also made me ass-kicking martinis that got me drunk hella quick...:)

I ended up hung over and with sinus problems Saturday morning, attended the one morning session for the conference, and slept most of the rest of the morning and early afternoon, then watched some college football. After dinner, I went to the Barbary Coast, and ended up winning about $250 on blackjack, without getting a single blackjack. I won a number of double downs and splits, which is how you win money.

Sunday brought football. I didn't bet on football, since the house edges are pretty high in the Vegas casinos. The Caesar's sports book is like my dream living room, with four huge TVs and four smaller ones to track every game.

After about nine hours of football and dinner, I went over to the Flamingo to play blackjack. The first half hour was awful, and I nearly lost all of my stake, but I battled back and ended up about $150 up on the night.
