I'm not dead!
Apr. 2nd, 2007 03:03 pmI'm better now! (Mostly.) I spent most of Friday and a lot of Saturday in bed, and was plenty woozy Sunday. Didn't do much of anything at all, except for a few errands Sunday, but I'm almost back to normal today.
And good news - the City of Seattle settled a lawsuit brought by hundreds of people for police arresting or attacking them during the 1999 WTO meetings. The payout was a nice round $1 million, and the City of Seattle agreed to seal all police and court records associated with the arrests of and attacks on the protesters.
The WTO protests turned me from a mainline Democrat into someone suspicious of even nominal Democrats like Mayors Paul Schell and Vera Katz. Even though both mayors were perceived liberals, they had no qualms sending black-clad stormtroopers in to attack peaceful protesters, whether at the WTO protests, the 8/22/02 Bush protest in Portland or the March 2003 Iraq War protests.
