Leave No Incompetent Behind
Sep. 27th, 2005 08:23 amWhen you fuck something up so badly as former FEMA head Mike Brown, responsible employers would throw you out on the curb with your desk's contents in a box.
However, this is the Bush administration we're talking about. Turns out that Brownie is being kept on as a consultant to evaluate the response to Hurricane Katrina.
Nothing that the Bush Administration does surprises me anymore. Yes, Mike Brown should be part of the investigation into the carnage caused by Katrina, but he should be testifying under subpoena from an independent, bipartisan commission.
And now, he's parroting the Republican talking point that he did nothing wrong, and that all the Democratic local officials were to blame.
I would expect someone who displayed such extreme incompetence would not want to show his face in public. Indeed, I would expect many people in the same situation to commit suicide. But this is the Bush Administration, where cronyism trumps competence, and failure only gets you promoted.
