Summer Send Off and Hurricane Geeking
Aug. 28th, 2005 08:47 pmThe Summer Send-Off Party was very successful - we had 15 current students, incoming students, and parents over to our house this afternoon for a barbecue. I made some good burgers, hot dogs, and Gardenburgers; Amy made a fresh fruit salad, and the students and parents did what I expected - they paired off so they could talk about the upcoming school year and how to survive it. One of the parents even went inside to greet Walter - their family also had a polydactyl cat.
Brendan and I are geeking over Hurricane Katrina, which looks like it's going to make a direct hit on New Orleans. Some might say that it's insensitive to devote time to something so destructive; however, I believe it's a logical substitute for prayer - trying to understand more about a process one doesn't have control over.
