The Good this Past Week...
Feb. 3rd, 2003 06:28 pmI went to Las Vegas last weekend for the Super Bowl with my friends Brendan and Chaz (Chaz came in from Pittsburgh) and met my dad, who also came in from Pittsburgh.
The first question you'll ask....I did OK...came out about $50 ahead for the trip, mostly because of good hot streaks playing blackjack at the Excalibur on Sunday night and at the Monte Carlo on Monday afternoon. Brendan did better, though....he won back his plane fare and then some, mostly Sunday and Monday as well. Chaz didn't say how he did...:P
Favorites in Vegas this time: the Carnaval Court at Harrah's - stunt bartenders just like in "Cocktail".....including the infamous "Strap On", a drink in a massive plastic container larger than a yard glass. They're intended for people to share...at least for most people...:)
I also liked The Palms - liked the layout of the casino and the atmosphere, and I got a good blackjack table there. I ended up only up slightly, but it was an enjoyable time.
Dislikes: The streak of bad luck at the Riviera....Chaz, Brendan, and I all got beat up pretty bad and ended up Saturday night earlier (and much poorer) than we would have liked to. The awful performance of the Raiders in the Super Bowl. You suck, and so does Oakland. :P, Kette. The shitty food in the Reno airport on the way back - $6 for a Plaid Pantry sandwich? I don't think so. I'll have a $1.35 bag of chips and tough it out for two hours until spot takes Brendan and myself to Jack in the Box on the way back from the airport.
Chaz, Brendan and my dad watched the Super Bowl at the Tropicana's party, paid for by my dad dropping Lisa-knows how much money at the craps table. We ate well and drank a lot of beer, and my dad skipped out early in the second half to go back to the craps table.
Unfortunately, I caught a bad cold in Vegas or on the plane back, and still am not feeling all right...which brings me to the next post.
