Not my experience, but a friend of mine who was a bus driver told a rider not to eat a messy sandwich on the bus - they guy threw the sandwich at him, and he got pepper juice in the eye and had to go to the emergency room.

The night I got my septum pierced, which was also the first time I ever smelled the homeless people on the #20 bus, coming back into downtown......or much of anything for that matter. I smoke, so never having smelled anything like that before, I was on the verge of VERY sick.
