Memories of Egg

I'm going towards acceptance in my mourning of [livejournal.com profile] moufette. I had talked to him on IRC many times over the past several years, and had the chance to meet him once when I was visiting my family in Pittsburgh, and he was still attending Pitt.

I mourn like a geek, though - I spent most of Tuesday night reading through his LJ - all of it - all the way back to when he established it in August 2003. (A true geek would look up all his posts on alt.tv.animaniacs through the Google groups, though.) That's the way I process grief when it's very much out of my control - I try to find out as much as possible about the person, disaster, or disease involved.

(no subject)

Good weekend, even though I've been too busy lazy to post about it....

Saturday afternoon, Amy and I went to the Mt. Hood Jazz Festival, mostly to see Annette Lowman, a jazz singer I became acquainted with. Amy and Ms. Lowman have a sort of "Gift of the Magi" relationship - Amy envies Annette's voice, while Annette wishes she had Amy's hair. :) We chatted with her for a while and listened to the next band, then headed out.

Sunday was a day at the pool - Portland has a good public pool system, with clean (but not over-chlorinated) pools and lots of tubes and other water toys for kids and overgrown kids like us to use. However, I really need to work on my swimming - I won't drown, but I'm slow as hell. (And I always seem to swim breaststroke now FSR.)

Tonight is Fastball and Pinehurst Kids at Doug Fir....should be pretty good.
