Elia Kazan Dead at 94...

But just like Strom Thurmond and Leni Riefenstahl, he tainted his long life and talent with support of repugnant politics - the vicious slanders of Joseph McCarthy and his House Un-American Activities Committee.

I'll paraphrase George Orwell's criticism of Salvador Dali.....

"One ought to be able to hold in one's head simultaneously the two facts that [Kazan was] a good [director] and a disgusting human being...

The first thing that we demand of a wall is that it stand up....and yet even the best wall in the world deserves to be pulled down if it surrounds a concentration camp." Benefit of Clergy, Some Notes on Salvador Dali.

(no subject)

Somehow I survived the weekend. Lots of stuff to do, and wasn't helped by having my most serious depressive episode since starting the Lexapro in April.

So serious that I listlessly watched football on Sunday. Yep, that bad.

I did manage to take care of [livejournal.com profile] grishnash and spot's cats this weekend, as well as another couple's 2 cats (one of whom I never saw) and 2 large shepherd-mix dogs, then go to the cat shelter to take care of more cats.

Also did about 8 hours of other work as well....

Productive weekend, but I just couldn't get into it.
