I accepted a client from Hermiston, Oregon and filed a bankruptcy case for them about six weeks ago. This meant the hearing would be in Pendleton, and I decided to take Amy there Thursday and make a day of it.

The hearing went smoothly, and the day after, I got the no-asset case notice, so it was a success. We spent the rest of the afternoon exploring the town (Amy scored some good clothes thrifting, and hung out at Great Pacific Coffee and Wine for a while before meeting [livejournal.com profile] icecat (Natte) and her husband Ted for dinner. We were impressed with the place and its multiple functions in a smaller town - as pizza place, wine and beer bar, coffee shop, and music performance space.

Then we met Natte and Ted at Stetson's Steakhouse for dinner. Amy and I are from restaurant/food service backgrounds, and we saw that everything clicked. From the owner greeting us and taking our drink orders (including a martini that made Amy shickered), to excellent food and service, this place did it right, and for much less than a similar dining experience in a major city.

I got two surprises on the way home - one good one (meeting a friendly kitty at a truck stop on the way home), and an unwelcome one (something not directly involving me or anyone on LJ that I can't really talk about for a while - it's not a health problem, though).
